Flexible Querying in Geo-Finder
نویسندگان
چکیده
The evaluation of queries specifying both content based conditions and spatial conditions on documents contents in Geographic Information Retrieval requires representing the vagueness and context dependency of spatial conditions and the personal user’s preferences. The Geo-Finder system [1] implements a Geo-Retrieval model that evaluates flexible spatial queries combined with content queries. The spatial condition is interpreted as the soft constraint “close” on the user’s perceived distance. Two distinct semantics can be used to combine the spatial and the content conditions: and possibly or average; in both cases it is possible to modify the relative weight (preference) of conditions.

Geographic Information Retrieval based on Two Orthogonal Criteria
A Geographic Information Retrieval (GIR) model is defined and the architecture of a GIR system, named Geo-Finder, is described. The GIR system is constituted by two main modules. The geo-indexing module applies bipolar criteria to automatically identify the geo-reference focus (footprint) of textual documents. The geo-retrieval module applies a context dependent matching function to evaluate qu...
متن کاملA Modular Design for Geo-Distributed Querying
Most distributed storage systems provide limited abilities for querying data by attributes other than their primary keys. Supporting efficient search on secondary attributes is challenging as applications pose varying requirements to query processing systems, and no single system design can be suitable for all needs. In this paper, we show how to overcome these challenges in order to extend dis...
متن کاملGEOmetadb: powerful alternative search engine for the Gene Expression Omnibus
UNLABELLED The NCBI Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) represents the largest public repository of microarray data. However, finding data in GEO can be challenging. We have developed GEOmetadb in an attempt to make querying the GEO metadata both easier and more powerful. All GEO metadata records as well as the relationships between them are parsed and stored in a local MySQL database. A powerful, fl...
متن کاملGEOLIS: a logical information system for geographical data
Today, the thematic layer is still the prevailling structure in geomatics for handling geographical information. However, the layer model is rigid: it implies partitionning geographical data in predefined categories and using the same description schema for all elements of a layer. Recently, Logical Information Systems (LIS) introduced a new paradigm for information management and retrieval. Us...
متن کاملModeling and Querying Moving Objects with Social Relationships
Current moving-object database (MOD) systems focus on management of movement data, but pay less attention to modelling social relationships between moving objects and spatial-temporal trajectories in an integrated manner. This paper combines moving-object database and social network systems and presents a novel data model called Geo-Social-Moving (GSM) that enables the unified management of tra...
